What do you think about not being able to water the lawn on weekends?

I find it amazing that I've been on water restrictions for 21 years from the town but now the town has not only opened the spray parks but extended the hours. I guess my vegetables aren't sustainable enough for them.

Were fines totalling $750 issued for a noise complaint warranted?

This poll is misleading, $500 was for impeding an investigation not the noise bylaw.

I have a dog that I walk on leash and she has never barked at a deer. in fact she is indifferent to them. I am animal aware and never get between moms and babies, however I have been charged several times while walking and one incident involving a deer that was so aggressive a passerby had to intervene with a vehicle in order for my dog and myself to escape. I don't think it's fair to say that the dog provoked it as not all dogs bark at everything they see. I have also encountered an aggressive deer while walking on my own so again not fair to say all incidents involve dogs. Perhaps if we didn't keep building and tearing up their habitat they wouldn't end up on town streets. I don't ever remember having problems like this before this excessive growth council has implemented.

I agree, the previous council had it right. And the population cap was one of the reasons a lot of people moved to Okotoks, myself included. There was to be cap on the population in keeping with the sustainability of the resources. This cap was increased a couple of times and eventually removed without our knowledge or input. Council should be acting in the best interest of the residents not the developers by allowing growth that surpasses the infrastructure and resources available.

Unfortunately they are not the only ones affected by rent gouging by landlords just because they can. My heart goes out to them and all the others who are struggling to find a place to live. These new developments were supposed to have affordable housing, that doesn't appear to have materialized.

I agree, stop developing. When I moved here 21 years ago we had water restrictions and a growth cap. For 21 years we have struggled to meet the demands of the existing population, why on earth would you allow the developments that are in progress. It certainly isn't to provide affordable homes for residents. When D'Arcy was proposed we raised our concerns about the water available and you went ahead anyway and now look where we are. Your phase 5 has you closing down local business' ie car washes and drycleaners. These are peoples lively hoods that you are talking about, and may I add they received permission from the town to open these business', pay for business licenses and property tax, employee local residents and most have done so for years, however I noted that the new subdivisions will receive an exemption for newly planted trees and grass. How about they are required to hold off on landscaping until the water shortage situation is rectified.

If our water systems can't support the existing population why on earth is council pushing for even more development. I have lived here for twenty years and have supported my local community, paid my taxes along with all other long term residents and home owners . The first priority of council should be to maintain our services not continue developments to put a further drain on already existing services, especially one as necessary and basic as water.

What do you think of the state of Okotoks roads during the winter?

Poll |

Diana Stefanyshin commented

I would also suggest that the people who clear the roads lift their blade when approaching a drive way. They consistently pile ice snow and debris from the road in front of my driveway making it difficult and sometimes impossible to get out. I shovel my walks and drive way every time it snows only to come out to a large pile of ice and debris piled in the end of my driveway.
