It is with great sadness that the family of Vylea Laur Christine Vetricek (Parker) announce her sudden passing on Monday, October 30, 2023, at the age of 53. Vylea was born January 4th, 1970, in Guelph, Ontario to Parents David and Sharron Parker.

Vylea will be lovingly remembered by her husband of 25 years, Zachary; children, Marie (Corey), Elysia (Devin); older brother, Bryan (Cindy); and numerous other family members and friends. Vylea was predeceased by her parents, David and Sharron Parker.

Vylea’s name was given to her by her Grandmother, Denore Parker. She felt great pride in her Parker family roots; they raised her to be strong and bold in nature. Vylea was a proud army brat, traveling with her family much of her life and making friends across Canada along the way. She spent a lot of her younger years with her Parker cousins and older brother, making memories and getting into trouble here and there.

Vylea met her husband Zak in 1996 and they said “I do” in 1999 surrounded by love in front of friends and family. Vylea would always tell you that her greatest pride and joy was her two daughters, whom she was blessed with in 1992 and 1998. Vylea moved to Thunder Bay, Ontario with her family of four in 2004 where she and Zak raised their girls. She graduated from Confederation College with an accounting diploma in 2007, and was able to start her career with the CRA, where she made many lasting friendships. Vylea and Zak took advantage of Northwestern Ontario and enjoyed their love for camping and fishing for almost 20 years. Vylea made countless friends over the years at numerous campfires that will miss her for the years to come.

Vylea had an infectious laugh and smile which brightened any room. Many fond memories shared by loved ones are of her kindness and generosity, love of loud music (especially AC/DC), camping adventures, and overall fun spirit. Vylea was always eager to help those around, and willing to give whatever she could - whether that be a room to sleep or an ear to listen.

In the last years of Vylea’s life, she was able to go on an adventurous road trip with Zak to the USA, where she checked flying over the Grand Canyon and Disneyland off of her bucket list. Her family is happy to share that during the last several months she has been very happy and living her best life. A rejuvenated social life, bonding with her “sister” Lisa and living the “auntie life.”

Vylea's family hope that her love of life and laughter is remembered by those who knew her.

A celebration of life will be held on November 12th, 2023, at the Red Chevron Club, 34 Elizabeth Street, Guelph, Ontario from 1pm-5pm. Arrangements entrusted to WALL-CUSTANCE FUNERAL HOME & CHAPEL (519-822-0051 / www.wallcustance.com).

Memorial contributions to the Heart and Stroke Foundation would be appreciated.
