In loving memory of Shirley Geralda Mary Robson, fondly referred to as Meme Shirley, she passed peacefully on the morning of September 30, 2024, after a courageous battle with cancer in 2023, she again faced medical complications in 2024.

Shirley was born and raised in Cornwall Ontario, and at the tender age of 30, she moved to the North with her husband of 49 years Ian Robson, and daughter Angela.

She is survived by Husband Ian Robson, Daughters Angela Champagne (Gary), Michele Boffa (Rick), and Jennifer Troconis (Joseph), Grandchildren Georgia Champagne (Liam), Giancarlo Boffa, and Maximo Troconis.

She loved life with a fierce passion, and if you were in her path, you would have felt her warmth.

In younger years, you would have found her on the ice at the Curling Club, she enjoyed hunting with her husband, Ian.

One of her greatest joys, other than her family, was being a member of the Thunder Bay Horticultural Society.

During her professional years she had the opportunity to work for the Ministry of Natural Resources in Nipigon, Thunder Bay, and Toronto Ontario, until her retirement in 2001.

She devoted her retirement to the Thunder Bay Horticultural Society through garden beautification and outreach projects, you can enjoy her work at Magnus Theatre, the Conservatory, Heritage Gardens, The Thunder Bay Civic Auditorium, The Dedication Garden at Oliver Road Community Centre, and of course her beautiful home In North TBAY.

She was instrumental in garden beautification projects small and large through our fair city.

You can visit Shirley at the newly appointed bench at Magnus Theatre Red River (Roadside).

She fulfilled many roles within the society such as President, Secretary and Director of Dist. 14 OHA. She enjoyed international travel with her friends and family.

She enjoyed the peace and tranquility of her garden at home, especially on a Sunday morning with a hot cup of Joe spiked with some Irish cream.

A memorial service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, October 5, 2024, in the chapel of Sargent and Son Funeral Home, 21 N. Court Street.

Charitable Donations can be directed to Magnus Theatre Youth Program or to the Linda Buchan Centre.
