Ruth Happy of Thunder Bay Ontario passed away unexpectedly at home on Saturday December 30th 2023 at the age of 66 but her larger than life persona and stubbornness will not be forgotten.

Ruth was born June 29th 1957 in Kirkland Lake, Ontario. She was the middle child of the late Peter and Patricia Happy

Affectionately known as "Ruthie" by many friends. She was a Medical Secretary by trade  and an avid yarn collector and ghost T.V. show enthusiast. After retirement, Ruth opened her home to numerous children and became a loving foster parent. She selflessly cared for many children up until her passing.

She despised asparagus, bell peppers, cigarette butts in the driveway, spilled sugar grains on the counter, cold weather and socks with sandals.
Ruthie had many loves too, the pizza crust us kids would never eat, her collection of yarn balls, ice cold Fresca, Chinese Food, slot machines, great hair days, tiger paw ice cream, a good laugh, great conversation, murder mystery shows, ghost stories and the smell after it rains.

She loved her life partner, Allen Gunn, who preceded her in death (December 2, 2017)  She is survived by her 2 children, son Chris, grand daughters, Ashley and Amber. Daughter, Lisa (Mike) grand sons, Jack and Sam. Her brother, Martyn (Betty) and sister Jill along with her nieces and nephews.

Famously opinionated, sometimes short tempered, her quick wit, her fiestiness and stubbornness served her well in life. Her sparkling eyes, her warm smile and her deep belly laugh will never be forgotten Ruth had an uncanny ability to reach people in a deep and positive way.

A celebration of life will be held at the Current River Rec. Centre on Sunday March 17 between 1-4pm. All who knew her, past and present are welcome to come, to reminisce, grieve, support each other and of course, just chat.
