NADJA MILOSTNAJA
September 17, 1925 – December 18, 2023

It is with heavy hearts that the family of Nadja Milostnaja, age 98 years, announce her passing peacefully on Monday, December 18, 2023 in her residence at Hogarth Riverview Manor.

Nadja was born on September 17, 1925 in Kursk, Russia to Andre and Paula Milostnaja. In 1941, at the age of 16, during WW2 she was forcefully taken to Austria by the German army where she worked and lived on a farm in the mountains. After many extreme trials and tribulations she immigrated to Canada in 1948, and eventually settled in Toronto where she made a good life for herself and her daughter Jeanette.

Nadja worked in a hospital and at many other jobs over the years including hairdressing and real estate. She made great friends through her work and church and had a passion for music and singing. She composed and performed numerous songs and loved to share her talent at many events in Toronto. In 2016 Nadja moved to Thunder Bay to be closer to her daughter, son-in-law, grandchildren and great grandchildren.

Nadja is survived by her daughter Jeanette (David) Lightwood; grandsons Hal (Antoinette) Lightwood and Ivan (Tari) Lightwood; as well as her great-grandchildren: Nicholas, Charlotte, Sophia, Mathilde, Alexis, Asa and many nieces, nephews and extended family members.

Funeral Services for Nadja will be held on Wednesday, December 27, 2023 at 11:00am in Holy Trinity Greek Orthodox Church (615 Beverly Street), officiated by Rev. Father Konstantinos Tsiolas. Interment will follow in Riverside Cemetery. Donations to the Salvation Army, in lieu of flowers, would be appreciated.

Arrangements have been entrusted to the WESTFORT CHAPEL, 420 West Gore Street at James.
