It is with great sadness that the family announces the peaceful passing of their dear sister and auntie, Molly, on January 10, 2025, at the age of 72 in Thunder Bay, ON. Molly has been reunited with her loving parents, John and Eileen Ross, numerous friends, family, and pets; including her best kitty Felix. She leaves behind her siblings, Jackie (Brian), Pat (Bonnie), and John; nieces, Krista (Michael), and Kelsey; and great-nephews/nieces, Jethro, Casey, and Remy.

Molly was born in Marathon, ON in 1952 to John and Eileen Ross. As a youngster, she could be seen running through the many trails near McCullough Street, taking in a movie at the Strand Theatre, and enjoying a family picnic at Neys. In her later years, Molly became a staple at community functions; if there was something going on in Marathon, she was there (along with a sarcastic comment or two). As a dedicated member of the Marathon Minor Hockey Association, her favourite pastime was spent serving as a timekeeper, security, and all around lover of hockey and community. When she wasn’t a rink rat, you could find her having coffee at Robin’s, playing darts and bingo at the Moose Hall, spoiling her nieces, and cheering on the Montreal Canadiens, much to her father’s embarrassment. Often unfiltered, and brutally honest, her vibrant character and kind soul will be deeply missed.

Molly’s family would like to thank the staff at Wilson Memorial General Hospital, especially Dr. Zelek for her years of care, the staff at TBRHSC ER/ICU, fellow residents at Elizabeth Court, and her friends Leslie, Kristen, and Deb at Lutheran Community Care for their unwavering support that allowed Molly to live her best life, independently. Lastly, a big thank you to the entire community of Marathon for loving and embracing our Molly as she was, and always keeping a watchful eye.

A public Celebration of a Life Well Lived will take place in Marathon this summer, a notice will be published when the date has been determined.

In lieu of flowers, the family would like to direct donations to the Marathon Minor Hockey Association via mail (Box 924, Marathon, ON, P0T 2E0) or e-transfer ([email protected] – make password “hockey” and include memorial donation note).

The world has lost a good one, but Molly will live on through our many stories and cherished memories, until we meet again.
