It is with great sadness that the family of Michael Zeleniak announce his peaceful passing with his daughters by his side on December 23, 2024 at the Thunder Bay Regional Health Sciences Centre.

Michael was predeceased by his parents Anne and Peter Zeleniak, Straco Zeleniak (uncle), Nicky Zeleniak (brother), Alyssa Johnson (granddaughter) and Stephen Zeleniak (son).

Michael was born in Hamburg, Germany in 1946 and came to Canada in 1948. He resided in Thunder Bay for most of his life but also lived in Niagara Falls, Ontario and Calgary, Alberta. He would spend several years of his life travelling back and forth to be with family and to work.Michael was part of the Carpenter's Union for nearly 30 years. He had a love for wood, be it making his famous wood carvings, or simply keeping his home warm with a wood stove. He also worked in the bush with his sons for several years. In his free time he could be found fishing, camping, travelling and spending time with loved ones, including his pets. He was a beautiful soul with an infectious personality and was always willing to help others.

Michael will be dearly missed by his surviving children, Jim, Rhonda, and Krystal, as well as his ex-wife and friend of nearly 30 years, Carrolyn (Johnson). He is also survived by his sisters Mary, Pearl and Olga, as well as many loving grandchildren, nieces and nephews. We would like to extend a special “thank you” to family and friends that provided support during these dark hours.

May he rest in Peace.

Arrangements have been entrusted to Simpler Times Cremation Centre, 575 Central Avenue, Thunder Bay.
