Born June 15, 1925; Halifax, NS

Daughter of Margaret MacIntosh and John Berrigan Halifax, NS.

Predeceased by brothers John and Carl and loving husband of 53 years Alf Carlson.

Mother of Lois Jane Carlson and Brian Eric Carlson (Eve) sister in love to Vera Wild.

Grandmother (NANA) to Lisa-Marie Smith, Bradford Hudson Smith (Malaika) Christopher Ryan Carlson (Lacey)

Loving great grandmother to Izzie, Asher, Clark and Jono.

After growing up in Halifax, Dolly met her sweetheart in the hospital when she was 19 years old. Alf was serving on the HMS Robertson during WWII and was brought to shore for medical care. Although Dolly was visiting her Uncle in the next bed, Alf was captivated by her personality and movie star looks.

Dolly always knew Alfie was the love of her life.

After a whirlwind courtship, Dolly took the train to Fort William to meet his family. They were married shortly after on October 6, 1945 on the Carlson farm which was famously known for its hospitality.

Dolly and Alf made their home in Thunder Bay for 48 years where they attended Westfort Baptist Church. They had a great life filled with: family, friends, singing in the choir, bowling, boating and all other cottage life activities.

Dolly had a career in fashion, modelling and as a buyer for Sears. After retirement Dolly & Alf spent many winters in Texas before relocating to Abbotsford for 23 years. They attended Seven Oaks Alliance and enjoyed the vibrant community of Seniors.

After Alf passed away, Dolly was famous for attending Young Drivers of Canada at age 75 to make sure she could confidently enjoy independence as Alf had been her chauffeur for decades.

Dolly moved to Kelowna in 2016 to be close to family and enjoy the comforts of Sandalwood. She made many special friends who will miss her dearly.

Dolly’s family is incredibly grateful for her love and generosity over the decades. She will be deeply missed and we all hold countless happy memories of our time with her.

Dolly’s life verse was THE PRAYER of JABEZ

Oh, that You would bless me indeed, and enlarge my territory that your hand would be with me, and that you would keep me from evil, that I may not cause pain! 1 Chr. 4:9-10

As a family we want to thank the staff and friends at Sandalwood Resort Kelowna who were so kind and gracious to our mom during the seven years she made it her home.

Our deepest heartfelt appreciation to: Dr. Hennie Dr. Boshoff, the Grace and Integrity care team at Sandalwood, The Chronic Disease Management Team, and the doctors, nurses and staff at Kelowna’s Hospice House all of whom cared lovingly for our mom when she was at her weakest and most vulnerable.

Most of all we are grateful to God for His Watchful Care for mom throughout her incredible ninety-nine years she spent on Earth before going home to be with her loving husband Alf and her Heavenly Father
