Mrs. Marlene Joyce Ann Rubletz, aged 83, of Kakabeka Falls, Ontario, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, September 6, 2023, at Thunder Bay Regional Health Sciences Centre. Born to Elmer and Ann Ross at Port Arthur General Hospital on May 17, 1940, Marlene leaves behind a cherished legacy.
Marlene was a devoted wife to her late husband, Michael Rubletz, and a loving mother to Bernice (Danny) Gunsinger, Kevin (Rosemarie) Rubletz, and Jennifer (Rob) Barton. She was also a dedicated Nanny to her grandchildren, Cindy, Lynn, Gary, Tyler, Justine, Kayrn, Brenden, Hailey, Joshua, and her seven great-grandchildren. Marlene's warm presence and unconditional love will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege of knowing her.
Predeceased by her beloved husband, Mike, her parents Elmer and Ann Ross, as well as her brothers-in-law Reg Defeo, Harold Bloesser, Pete, John, George, Nick, Bill, and Steve Rubletz, and sisters-in-law Lillian, Bella, Nora, and Annie Rubletz, Marlene is survived by her loving sister, Eleanor Bloesser (Defeo) (Ross), her brother Ken (Gloria) Ross, along with numerous treasured nephews and nieces.
Marlene's life was defined by her commitment to her family. She met Mike at her family's bush camp in Mabella and they married in 1959, raising their family in Kakabeka Falls. Marlene was known for her kindness, quiet strength, and love of good food and country music. She and Mike shared many adventures, travelling to Nashville to see the Grand Ole Opry as well as all throughout the United States and Canada. Their annual summer road trips to Saskatchewan and Southern Ontario held a special place in their hearts.
A gentle soul, the keeper of family stories and recipes, Marlene and Mike’s home was a haven. Marlene cherished her role as a caregiver, tending to her grandchildren in their early years and caring for her parents and Mike in their final days.
Young at heart and full of wisdom, Marlene was dependable and reliable, and her non-judgmental nature and unwavering willingness to help touched the lives of everyone she knew.
The family is grateful to Thunder Bay Regional Health Sciences Centre's care staff for their compassion.
Per Marlene’s wishes, cremation has occurred and a celebration of life will follow at a later date.
