It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Leo Edward Evans Friday, January 17, 2025, at the age of 69 years.

It was a short and fierce struggle with olfactory neuroblastoma.

Leo is survived by his loving wife Irene (Nee Hietikko); daughter Shannan; siblings Yvonne (Peter), Jim, Anne (Fuzzy), Jean (Bob), Arlene (Wayne), Neil and David; uncles Alan and Earl, cousins Judy and Dan; numerous nieces, nephews, great nieces, and great nephews. He was predeceased by his partner Susan Hadland, his parents Doug and Irma Evans; brother Glen, sister Gail; aunt Donna and nephew Robert.

Leo was born October 10, 1955, raised, and educated in Sioux Lookout and Dryden area.

He attended Confederation College in 1975 to obtain his welders certification, subsequently employed at Port Arthur Ship Building Company.

He was also a member of the Boilermaker’ Local 555 since March 1982.

Leo was a gentle soul who enjoyed socializing and partaking in a beer with his friends.

A daily walk with Panda his fur buddy was a must.

His skills will be missed as a self-taught “Mr. Fix it, Handy Man” in all areas. He enjoyed travelling, camping, kayaking, golfing, saunas, playing the lottery and signing in around town.

A Celebration of Leos life will be held on Friday, January 31, 2025 from 4-7pm at the Current River Recreation Centre (450 Dewe Ave Thunder Bay).
