On November 7, 2024, “a beautiful light went out way too soon”. The world lost yet another loving, kind and amazing soul. Karman brought hope, optimism and love into everything she did and managed to pass it on just when people needed it the most. Karman’s greatest love in life was her children – Courtney and Jessie. Karman loved being a mom, as anyone who saw her with her children could see. Karman never had much in the way of material things, but whatever she did have, she was more than willing to share with anyone in need. Spending the past two and a half years in hospital was challenging for Karman, after her stroke in January 2022, but she never gave up hope of going home. Karman’s sister TammyLynn Miranda and brother-in-law Lawrence Watkinson (Low) were Karman’s consistent caregivers and companions, after the loss of their mother in August 2023. Tammy and Low would visit daily, bringing her up home made meals, treats, and ensuring Karman never wanted for anything the entire time she was in hospital.
Karman was predeceased by her father Karl Miranda, mother Vina Riddock, stepfather Barry Riddock. Karman leaves behind her daughter Courtney Kaartinen and son Jessie Charette, sister TammyLynn Miranda/brother-in-law Low, brother Kevin Miranda, and brother Ian Stewart/brother-in-law Dave.
Karman’s family would like to thank the nursing staff at Thunder Bay Regional Health Sciences Centre for taking care of her for the past 2 plus years, and particularly her PSW Crystal Rose, for going above and beyond and ensuring that Karman knew just how special a person she was.
Karman, you will be missed by everyone who knew you, but especially missed by Courtney who saw you as her best friend, mentor and greatest support in life, your son Jessie, your baby sister TammyLynn who never left your side and was there for all the hard decisions in life with you, your brother Kevin who remembers how you made sure he knew he was loved and wanted, your brother Ian who’s loved you every minute of every day of your short life, and by both your brothers-in-law Low and Dave.
