Joyceline (Joce) Gisèle Landers of Thunder Bay, Ontario passed away at 67 years at the Hospice at St. Joseph Hospital. Joce was born in Matheson, Ontario on January 12, 1957 to Philip and Thérèse (Theriault) Boucher. Joce was raised in Val Gagné Ontario where she met and married Rick Landers. Together with their first son Micheal moved to Manitouwadge where her second son Shawn was born.
Joce spent many great years raising her family in Manitouwadge while working at many places within the tight knit community, starting at CIBC, then Superior Propane, District Health Unit, Geco and Golden Giant Mine. Once Golden Giant Mine closed in 2006 she moved to Val Therese, Ontario and started working for herself completing many projects for Vale. In 2010 heath issues forced Joce to retire and move to Thunder Bay so she could be with her grandsons, Caleb and Wyatt. Going to school functions and watching the boys play hockey were some of most cherished moments. When she was not spending time in the rinks cheering for her grandsons, she was able to enjoy trips with friends and most notably a river cruise with Johnny Reed. The last few years Joce enjoyed her summers at Eaglehead Lake and spending time laughing and having fun with her special friends Karen, Mich, Linda, Barb and Don who took such great care of her during her time in need. For that she was so grateful.
Joce is survived by her sons, Mike (Bonnie) and Shawn (Becky), her grandsons Caleb and Wyatt, her four brothers, Florent, Ghislain (Doris), Butch, Jean-Marc (Laura), her two sisters Jaqueline and Huguette, her two sisters-in-law Claudette and Suzanne and bother-in-law Léo Theriault, and also many nieces and nephews.
Joce was predeceased by her parents, Philip and Thérèse Boucher, her husband Rick Landers, her stepfather Ron Martin, her parent-in-laws Micheal and Jeannette Landers, her brothers-in-law, Rheal St-Jean, Bobby Landers, Otto Vandenberg and Roma Faubert and her sisters-in-law Judy Theriault and Gisèle Boucher.
The family appreciated the great help and assistance of her Chemo team at Thunder Bay Regional, Hospice team from Paramed, and her friends that helped make our mom comfortable over the last 4 years while she battled with Cancer.
As per Joce's wishes, cremation has taken place and a memorial service will be held at 1:30 p.m. on Friday, November 22, 2024 at Corpus Christi R.C. Church. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Canadian Cancer Society or the Hospice at St. Joseph’s Hospital. Online condolences may be expressed at www.sargentandson.com.
