It is with great sadness that the- family of John Walgren announce his passing on January 3, 2025 at St. Joseph Hospital with his wife by his side.  John was born in Regina, Saskatoon and was raised in Naicam, Saskatchewan and settled in Thunder Bay in 1991.  John’s professional career was in the pipeline construction industry. He worked for many companies during  his career and worked in most Canadian provinces as well as Kazakhstan and Trinidad.  

John is survived by his wife Beverly Duffield, step children Craig Duffield and his wife Frances, Leah Ann Duffield and granddaughter Meagan McIlwain (Dan. Jack, Ella). He is also survived by his sister Marilyn Froess in Saskatchewan and relatives and friends in Saskatchewan and British Columbia.  He is also survived by sisters-in-law Debbie and Rod Bosch, Bonnie and Terry Joseph and Kim and Steven Meyer and  many nieces and nephews.   He will be missed by many  good friends. John was a fine, kind and very good man.

John was predeceased by his parents Carl and Annie Walgren, his in-laws Barney and Betty Tackney and brothers-in-law Tom and Dennis Tackney and
sister-in-law Jane Tackney.

We extend gratitude to Dr. Bezanson and Dr. Del Paggio at Thunder Bay Regional Hospital and Dr. Migay and nurses at St. Joseph Hospital.  

A Celebration of Life will be held on January 17th at 12:10 p.m. at St Agnes Church followed by a reception in the church hall.

In lieu of flowers the family requests donations to Thunder Bay Regional Hospital Cancer Care or St. Joseph Hospice.

Arrangements have been entrusted to Simpler Times Cremation Centre, 575 Central Avenue, Thunder Bay.
