John Anthony Belle

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Mr. John Anthony Belle at the age of 87 on May 10th, 2024.

John was born in Port Arthur Ontario on November 23, 1936. He moved to Oshawa a few years after high school to work at the GM plant. During this time he met the love of his life Mary Griffin and they were married in 1963. Together they built their first home in Orono and settled down to raise their two children.

After moving back to Thunder Bay in 1970, John began his apprenticeship in carpentry. He graduated from George Brown College in 1975 with his journeyman carpenter designation.

John had a long and successful career working in the construction field. He was very meticulous and proud of his work, whether it was for himself, his family and friends, or his employers. John was recognized in 2021 for being a 50 year member of the Brotherhood of Carpenters and Joiners Local 1669 Union. John was a devoted husband and father and his greatest joys were spent with his wife and children. He took great pride in maintaining the family home and his vehicles.

There were many examples of his craftsmanship in the home such as the dining table, coffee table, entertainment unit, dressers, end tables, and nightstands to name a few. John was a kind and caring man with a great sense of humour who was always ready and willing to help others.

He will be lovingly remembered by his son Philip (Jacqueline), daughter Karen (Bruce), grandchildren Joshua and Amy (Chris), brother Don (Lori), sister Susie (Gary), sister-in-law Arlene and numerous nieces and nephews. John was predeceased by his loving wife Mary of 60 years, his parents Jack and Helen, brothers Bob and Rick, sister-in-law Carol, and niece Lisa.

Dad, you have left us with many cherished memories, and will forever be in our hearts. Fly away with the angels Dad, Mom is waiting for you. Give her a hug for us.

A celebration of life will take place at a later date. In lieu of flowers, if you so desire, donations may be made to a charity of your choice.
