It is with heavy hearts that we share with you the loss of Jim Byers, who passed away suddenly at home August 3rd 2023. He was born and raised in O’Connor township, to his parents Robert and Lena Byers.
He spent his working career in the Forestry sector, retiring from Buchanan Forest Products.
He married Trudy (nee Everett) in 1970, and together they made a home on the Reid Homestead in Murillo. It was there they raised a family and enjoyed many years of family gatherings. His first love was always his family, followed closely by his love of farming, working the land, raising beef cattle, and being active in the farming community.
Jim lived his life working hard, involved in his community: coaching baseball and hockey, being on the council of Oliver Paipoonge. Jim was always up for new challenges, helping a neighbour and instilled a work ethic and knowledge in his children, grandchildren and great grandchildren that will live on through them.
He is survived by his wife of 53 years, Trudy; his two children: Jeff (Dyanna Phillips) and Jenn (Don Johnson); five grandchildren; Cortney, Hanna, Tyson,
Emma, and Justin; four great-grandchildren: Jesse, Jayce, Greysen, Emersyn; siblings Bob (Betty), Shirley, Terry (the late Karen), and Debbie (Shawn Case); and numerous nieces and nephews, and extended family.
A private celebration of life will take place later. Take the time to help a neighbour, till the soil, plant a seed or hug a family member in memory of Jim.
