With profound sadness, the family of Jackie Douglas announces her peaceful passing surrounded by loved ones at Thunder Bay Regional Hospital on Saturday, March 1, 2025.

Jacklyn Ruth Douglas was born February 15, 1954 to parents Violet and Jack Douglas at McKeller General Hospital.  She was the youngest of three girls.  Pretty sure dad wanted a boy, hence being named after him with same initials being J.R.  Jackie had a happy childhood growing up in Westfort at 744 Kelly Street with her sisters Lesley and Colleen.  She attended Hyde Park, Kingsway and graduated from Selkirk HS.

Jackie’s first job was at Burns Foods with her friend Bette.  She also worked at the Assessment Office.  She then started her family having two sons, Ryley and Kevin, being a stay at home mom for a couple of years.  She went back to work with C.M.H.C for 20 years until they downsized the office here.  She made many work friends whom she kept in touch with.

Jackie loved her trips to Grand Portage where she tried her luck, mostly going there with friends Myra and Mary-Anne.  Unfortunately, due to health issues, she was unable to continue to do so.

Jackie took after her mother and was a very talented seamstress and also extremely good at crafts.  Her Swiss weaving blankets have beautifully adorned many households.  We will think of her when we look at them.

Surviving are her loving sons Ryley Hlady (Laura) and Kevin Hlady (Jennifer).  She was Granny to Reagan, Piper, Griffin, Tilly, Zane and Ethan.  Her sister, Colleen Hodgson (Bob), nephew Patrick (Tiffani), and Brother in Law Don Murray (Mary), niece Jody Ukrainec (Phil), nephew David Murray.  Also many cousins and their families.

Predeceased by her parents Violet and Jack Douglas, her oldest sister Lesley Murray, her nephew Kasmir Douglas Drewno, her grandparents and many aunts, uncles and cousins.

Internment will be in the spring at Mountainview Cemetery where Jackie’s ashes will be interned with her parents and sister, Lesley, at their grave site.  A gathering of family and friends will take place afterwards.

Thank you to the first responders, emergency room staff, ICU and 2B doctors, nurses and staff at Thunder Bay Regional for their care and compassion.

To Chris, her landlord for 12 years, we appreciate everything you did for her.  To Laurie Pudas, thank you for everything you did for Jackie.  To Simpler Times and Shirley for her guidance.

Jackie we will miss your presence in our lives forever.

In lieu of flowers donations to HAGI would be greatly appreciated.
