It is with extreme sadness that we announce the passing of Mr. Gilbert Randall Boucher, age 57 years, a proud resident of Fort William First Nation, suddenly in his home on Tuesday, March 25, 2025.

Gilbert was born in Thunder Bay on February 2, 1968, and raised on the Fort William First Nation. He lived a life full of experience and was always the life of the party. In his younger years he found pride in being a sky jumper and Crew Boss for the Fire Department. An injury meant he could no longer work, but he continued to help and support his community in any way possible. Gilbert was a friend to everyone and was always willing to give advice, encouragement and point you in the right direction. His home was always open to visitors, and he enjoyed entertaining guests at every opportunity. Gilbert was a man who loved to have fun and make those around him laugh. He lived a good life and truly wanted the same for those in his life.

Gilbert enjoyed being outdoors, fishing and hunting, and loved to cook many delicious meals for everyone. Above all else, his true passion was being there for his family and friends. He always reminded his daughter Kim that he was her biggest fan and was proud to have grandsons to carry his name on. Many memories were made over the years that are cherished and will be kept close at heart. He had a heart of gold, and his kindness and calming presence will never be forgotten. He will be deeply missed.

Gilbert is survived by his daughter Kimberly Harper (and her mother Robin Harper); grandchildren Maisun and Theodore Harper; his sister Jacqueline Brizard and brother Dion Boucher; nieces Ruby Ann Mitchell (Milo) and Natalia Collins, great-nieces and nephews Deven, Daniel, Sasha, Kira, Allyisha, Elexa, Ethan, Liam, Bailey, Brooklyn, Payton and Preston. He is also survived by his uncle, Dennis McLaurin and numerous cousins and extended relatives.

He was predeceased by his father, Gilbert Francis Boucher in 2005 and mother, Brenda Joan Boucher in 2024.

Funeral services for Gilbert Boucher Jr. will be held on Wednesday, April 2, 2025, when family and friends will gather in St. Anne's Mission Church for the Funeral Mass at 1:00pm celebrated by Father Bigu Mathew. Interment will follow in Immaculate Conception Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 6:00pm until 8:00pm on Tuesday evening in the Church, with Vigil Prayers offered at 7:00pm.

Arrangements have been entrusted to the WESTFORT CHAPEL, 420 West Gore Street at James.
