It is with profound sadness that the family of Garth Alexander Beaton announce his passing on July 25, 2023, at the age of 62, after a 7 year battle with cancer.

Garth was born to Audrey and Jack on October 18, 1960 in Cochrane, Ontario. He lived in Stratton, Ontario until his family moved to Thunder Bay around 1967. He attended St. John's School, E.Q. Jennings, PACI and Hammarskjold High School. He was an exceptional athlete and excelled in all sports. He loved to golf. He went to work on the lakers after high school and shared his wonderful memories of sailing on the Great Lakes. He was a proud pipeliner for over 30 years, mostly working in Alberta.

Garth and Mari met at E.Q. Jennings and lost touch until 1990. They married in 1996 in Las Vegas, Nevada. Garth and Mari had one child, Sierra Claire, whom he adored and was the loving stepfather to Tyler and Mackenzie. Because of his work on the pipeline, Garth and Mari saw much of Canada and loved spending time together on the road trips to many of his jobs.

He was predeceased by his parents Jack Beaton and Audrey Steinke; step-parents Madge Beaton and Edward Steinke; as well as parents-in-law Jozef and Ingrid Walas; and brother-in-law Peter Walas.

He is survived by his loving wife Mari; daughter Sierra Claire; and step-children Tyler Thompson and Mackenzie Thompson. He was a proud grandfather to Paighton Elizabeth Hawryluk, who will miss her PAPA dearly. He is also survived by his sister Jackie Beaton (Cal Wheeler); brothers Gary (Rose), Kevin Steinke and Greg Beaton; brothers-in-law John (Pam) Walas, Edwin (Rene) Walas and Ed Harkof; sisters-in-law Ingrid Harkof and Irene Walas (Marc); and many nieces and nephews and their families.

Garth's family would like to invite friends and family to a Celebration of Life which will take place on Wednesday, August 2, 2023 at Branch 5 Legion from 1-3pm. Arrangements have been entrusted to EVEREST FUNERAL CHAPEL, 299 Waverley Street at Algoma.
