It is with heavy hearts that we announce the sudden passing of Francesco (Frank) Miceli after a brief illness. He passed on December 29, 2024 at the age of 57. He was born in Manitouwadge and raised in Thunder Bay. He had many accomplishments in his life but his proudest
and most important were his family. Family was everything to Frank; he was a son, father, grandfather, brother, uncle, great uncle, brother-in-law, nephew, cousin and partner to the family he so loved.
He had a very special relationship with his Mother Rosetta. The time and calls they shared were so essential to him. He also had a cherished relationship with his sister Rina. Growing up together they had a closeness that carried on into adulthood. He also shared a special bond with his brother-in-law John. He was so excited to become an Uncle. He loved the time he spent with his niece Rosetta and nephew Gus.
Frank’s commitment to his family was unwavering. He was a deeply involved and supportive father of his two children Marissa and Myles. His calls to his son, that always began with a warm Hey Bud! and Marissa always knowing she was daddy’s little girl and little peanut. He was always there cheering Myles on at hockey and proudly watching Marissa at swimming. He shared their achievements, was so proud and loved to tell everyone all about their accomplishments. He embraced his role of Grandfather with the same pride and excitement he did as becoming a Father. He was deeply looking forward to becoming a Grandfather again.
Later in life Frank met Denise, they enjoyed many trips together over their 20 years as a couple. They relocated to Cape Breton Island to begin a new chapter in life. Frank was very proud of his Italian heritage and cherished the traditions passed down through the generations. His Mother’s cooking, particularly her pasta was a great source of joy. Mangia mangia was a phrase often heard as Frank always left with a full belly, as his Mother never took no for an answer.
Frank was an avid sports fan. His favourite team was the Minnesota Vikings. One of his fondest memories was attending a game at the new stadium with his son, a moment of great and unforgettable joy.
Frank was a hard-working man. He was a member of the Insulators Union of Edmonton Local 110. He was also a butcher in Thunder Bay for over 20 years. He was a true handyman and had a remarkable talent and ability to fix or build anything.
Frank was a man that gave all to those he loved through his kindness, hard work, love, humour and family values. He will be deeply missed, but his memory will live on forever in the hearts of those he knew and loved.
Special thank you to all the doctors and nurses who cared for Frank in his last days.
