It is with broken hearts that we announce the passing our beautiful Mom, Grandma, Auntie and Friend, Frances (Fran/Franny) Elizabeth Zawerucha. Fran passed away peacefully surrounded by family and friends at St Joseph’s Care Group in Thunder Bay.

Fran was born in Fort William but resided in Ignace her whole life where she met and married her late husband Mirvin and raised her children. She took on various jobs throughout the years at the YMCA, The Voyager, The Bay/Northern Store and Ricci’s Trucking making an impact at each one on the people she worked with. In her retired years you would often see her in her in her happiest place, her yard, where she loves gardening and decorating for each season or holiday. She was active in the community with the Legion, The Lions, Silver Tops and Northern Critters until her last days.

Fran had built and maintained countless friendships over the years and touched many lives.

Forever missed and lovingly remember by her daughters Melanie Zawerucha, Janice Zawerucha (Adam) and Tracy Nicholls (Terry), her grandson Jeff Nicholls (Jen), great granddaughters Emily and Maddie Nicholls and her sweet boy as she would call him, her grandson Simon Zawerucha who she shared a very special bond with, her “little brother” John Davis, sister Georgina Davis-Dmitriew and her niece Kaitlyn Taylor- Mitchell, who she considered as a daughter.

Deeply cherished by her dear friends Dot Cooney, Joanne Armstrong (and family) her neighbor and good friend Robert (Bob) Boose, who became family to her, along with many other close and lifelong friends.

Frances was predeceased by her husband Mirvin, sons Allan and Calvin and Mother Georgina Davis.

Regardless of all she had been through and challenged with, she faced each day of her life’s journey with a sense of courage, love and humour. To know her was to love her. Her beautiful smile, laugh, sharp wit, generous caring nature and gentle loving ways will be forever treasured.

She was such a bright light and that light will continue to shine from above and in the memories that are carried by her family, friends and all of those who knew and loved her.

Special heartfelt thanks to Scott and Mandy Coppin and Bob Boose for your unwavering support and love during such a difficult time, Mom was very aware of all you did and thank you will never be enough. To Dr. Kevin Bezanson, Nurse Robert, Nurse John, the floor manager Ann, all the amazing nursing staff on the 3B unit at Thunder Bay Regional, Dr. Mohammed Bassuony and the nurses at St. Joes, you all played a role in the incredible care and compassion that was shown to our Mom.

As per Fran’s wishes, cremation has taken place and a celebration of her life will be announced/held at a later date.

Should anyone so desire, in lieu of flowers at her request please donate to Northern Critters In Need by e-transfer to ncinrescue@gmail.com or by mail to Box 1023 Ignace, On P0T 1T0. Online condolences may be expressed at www.sargentandson.com.
