October 14, 1953 – March 4, 2025
It is with profound sadness that we announce Eileen's passing on Tuesday, March 4, 2025, at the age of 71 years, with family at her side after a long and courageous battle with cancer.
Eileen was born on October 14, 1953 and grew up in Hillsport Ontario. She moved to Thunder Bay to attend Selkirk High School. She worked at many local businesses including Scollie's Ice Cream and eventually became employed at Safety Supply. There she met her husband-to-be, Henry. Together they raised two children and owned and operated Hosanna Fire Protection for almost 20 years.
Eileen enjoyed simple pleasures in life, an occasional trip to Grand Portage (or if she was real adventurous, maybe Duluth or Black Bear), a nice evening at one of her favourite restaurants (Joey's Seafood, Swiss Chalet, Applebees to name a few), and watching her programs like The Young and the Restless, The Voice, TBT News, Murder She Wrote…if we tried to list everything, this obituary would be too expensive for her liking. However, her biggest passion became her grandbabies. She adored and loved to care for her little Isabella and Hank. She would make them their favourite meals, let them eat all the food their parents didn’t approve of, and give them too many snuggles to count. Although their time was short, the love that Grammie gave to these two will forever live in their hearts.
Eileen is survived by her daughter Victoria and son Taylor (Courtney); grandchildren Isabella, Hank, and TBD due October 2025; sibling Peter (Ann); best friend Rose (Dale). She is also survived by her precious fur-grandchildren, Gus and Oliver.
She was predeceased by her beloved husband, Henry; her parents Anne and Walter; aunts and uncles Zofia (Giuseppe), Anastasia (Philip), Kateryna (Nykola), Michel.
We would like to provide a special thanks to the Cancer Centre for the wonderful care she received. Thank you to Steven, Shane, Ike, Alana and to the many workers through Paramed that visited her- you all held a special place in her heart.
As per Eileen's wishes, cremation has taken place and there will be no service. In memory of Eileen, donations can be made to the Northern Cancer Fund (payable to TBRHSF).
Arrangements have been entrusted to the WESTFORT CHAPEL, 420 West Gore Street at James.
