Duncan Norman MacAskill passed away Nov 6th, 2024, at the age off 66.
Dunc grew up in Shuniah, attended Hillcrest High School, Carlton and Lakehead Universities.
He practised as a mechanical engineer in the Alberta Oil fields and on Arctic drilling platforms in his early years. He returned to Shuniah and worked as a mechanical contractor with his father for a number of years. Struggles with alcohol addiction challenged his life and he lived out his later years with the support of Habitat apartment program with the Salvation Army.
He is predeceased by his parents Ken and Betty, brother Ken Jr. and sister Mary Ann Heggen.
He is survived by his brothers Jack (Helen), Don (Susan), brother-in-law Ole Heggen and their families.
Cremation has taken place and a private service will be held at a later date. Donations to the Salvation Army Journey to Life Center would be appreciated.
