Mr. Clifford Edward Cech, age 85 years, passed away peacefully at Wesway House on Thursday, October 26, 2023 with his family by his side.
Clifford was born in Waldhof, Ontario on July 6, 1938. He worked various jobs at the Department of Highways, Abititbi and at Thunder Bay Terminals as a Heavy Equipment Operator until retirement in August, 2003. Clifford met Audrey Lorraine “Laurie” Huggard and they were married on July 19, 1958. Clifford loved planes, and built his own Ultralight Aircraft. He was very handy and enjoyed tinkering in his garage, using his backhoe on the farm and woodworking. He was a faithful servant of Jehovah and was a member of Kingdom Hall. Clifford was a funny man who enjoyed joking and making people laugh. He had a huge heart and would help anyone who needed his help. Clifford was a loving husband, father and grandfather, and will be deeply missed by all.
Clifford is survived by his beloved wife of 65 years, Laurie; daughters Pamela Gossilin, Norine Cech and Karen (Pauli) Puro; grandchildren Mikko, Amanda, Stephanie and Luke; great-grandchildren Brayden and Keegan; his brother Andy (Eleanor) Cech and sister-in-law Joyce Cech as well as numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and extended family.
He was predeceased by his parents, Edward and May (nee Spreng) Cech; brother James Cech and sisters Madeline Hampshire, Helen McQuillan, Esther Cech, and Lenora Pauluik, and his great-grandson Tyson Gossilin.
As per Clifford's wishes, cremation has taken place and a private family gathering will be held. Should friends so desire, donations made in memory of Clifford to the Alzheimer Society or the Heart and Stroke Foundation would be greatly appreciated.
Arrangements have been entrusted to the WESTFORT CHAPEL, 420 West Gore Street at James.
