Mr. Charles Frederick Gurney passed away on Saturday June 22, 2024 following a courageous battle with cancer. With family by his side, while listening to the man in black…Johnny Cash he drew his last breath and drifted off peacefully.
Charlie was born February 5, 1955 in Port Arthur. As a child he grew up in Kashabowie, later moving to Flanders, as his Father was relocated there for work by CN Rail. Charlie soon followed in his Father’s footsteps working for CN Rail as a track man. He travelled from place to place, wherever the job took him becoming a bit of a nomad until his retirement in 2015. He finally settled in a little apartment with a spectacular view of the Sleeping Giant and of course right next to the railroad tracks.
He enjoyed going for walks, the Casino, playing bingo, watching the news, listening to music, talking with friends and savouring a hot cup of coffee with a sweet treat in hand.
Charlie was predeceased by his parents Montague and Victoria, siblings Billy, Kenny, Gloria, Colleen and Anthony. He will be sadly missed by his brother Monty, sisters and their families; Vicki (Vicki Lee & Richard), Rhoda/Allen (Samantha, Zackary & Zebulon), Michelle, John, Brian, Anna, Carrie, Jamie, special nephew Tony/Ally & family, numerous cousins and close friend Helen.
