Mr. Carl Anderson, age 95 years, passed away on Tuesday, February 13th, 2024.
He was born to Rose and Henning Anderson in the Rainy River District and was the 3rd oldest of 17 children. He grew up working on his family sawmill. As a young man, Carl accepted many opportunities to explore different skills and trades, often saying, “He went where the work was”. He worked at the Steeprock mines, Haglund Lumber and in the local shipyards. He was a proud union member. Carl worked for Can Car (Bombardier) from 1964 to 1990. He was not one to stop for too long. He always had a project to keep him busy; whether it be troubleshooting a vehicle issue, helping with a home renovation, making fishing lures or crafting wooden tulips for his wife. In his down time, Carl enjoyed the outdoors, spending many hours fishing, hunting, picking berries, and camping at Ceder sites. He was a member of the CAW fish club. He enjoyed playing in crib tournaments and played darts right into his 80’s. Carl travelled throughout Canada and the United States with his young family, visiting Disneyland, British Columbia, and Graceland. He enjoyed watching western television shows including Gunsmoke and Bonanza and challenging himself with the crossword in the newspaper. In his later years, Carl could be found spending most evenings at McDonalds having coffee or enjoying riblets at Applebee's.
Carl is predeceased by his loving wife of 43 years, Evelyn and survived by children Mervin (Jill), Sharon, Dwight (Stephanie), Bradley (Clara), Wayne, Darryl and Warren (Anita) and grandchildren Whitney (Andrew), Darcy (Suzanne), Jennifer (Evan), Kimberly, Kerri (Jules), Jodi, Susie, James, Jesse, Joey (Shari Lynn), Curtis (Amber), Courtney and many great-grandchildren.
Funeral services for the late Mr. Carl Anderson will be held on Tuesday, February 27th, 2024 at 2:00 p.m. in the WESTFORT CHAPEL, 420 W. Gore street. Interment will follow at Riverside Cemetery.
