With heavy hearts, we announce the unexpected passing of Arla Singleton (née Roussain) on April 1, 2025. Born on March 14, 1948, to Elaine and Jack Roussain, Arla's roots were in Wawa, Ontario, where she grew up with her siblings Randy (Gisele); Patti (Fred) and David (Kerri). After graduating Michipicoten High School in 1966 she then pursued Secretarial Arts at Cambrian College in Sault Ste. Marie, leading to working at the TD Bank in Thunder Bay.

Arla met her future husband Ross on Labour Day weekend in 1969. They were married in 1970, and would have marked 55 of marriage on May 15, 2025. They led an adventurous life moving around many northern communities settling in Jacques Township where they built a beautiful home at Lottit lake.

She also leaves behind her cherished daughter, Nadine; son in law Patrick Bibollet-Ruche; and her precious grandchildren, Emma, Mathias, and Katiana, who will forever hold her memory dear.

For over 30 years, Arla contributed her talents to Fort William historical park before retiring. Her warm smile, patience, and gentle nature touched everyone she met. With a rare blend of clarity and compassion, her advice transformed lives. She delighted in sunny afternoons, creating art, and laughing with her grandchildren.

A celebration of Arla's life will be held at the Oliver Road Community Centre on Thursday April 10th from 5:00 PM to 8:00 PM with a second ceremony later this summer in Wawa with close family.

In remembrance of Arla, please share a memory with her family and consider making a donation to a charity of your choice or simply extend an act of kindness to someone in need, reflecting the beautiful way she lived her life.
