Born in Belarus in the Soviet Union, her family was displaced during the war by the Germans and she was later separated from them and sent to Germany to work on a farm.

After the war she was placed in a displaced person camp, where she worked in a hospital and learned her skills as a nurse assistant.

She was fortunate to be able to immigrate to Canada and worked in Winnipeg under contract with the Canadian Government to pay for her immigration passage to Canada.

She met Teofil (Anatoli) Towscik thru a mutual friend and after a short time of correspondence, Antonina decided to move to Fort William to be with Teofil.

They were married three weeks later and were married for 55 years until his passing in 2004.

They had two children, Lil and Larry.

Shortly after, Tonya found employment at McKellar General Hospital where she worked until her retirement in 1986.

Tonya enjoyed gardening, sewing clothes, crocheting and knitting.

She also enjoyed long walks, swimming and staying fit.

Tonya was one of the most likeable, kindest, gentle, generous and loving lady you would meet and a very hard worker.

She also loved to travel and was able to go to many places around the world with her beloved husband.

Tonya is survived by her daughter Lil (Ken),son Larry (Cherie), grandson Nick (Victoria) and 3 beautiful great grandsons Ronin, Clay and William.

She was predeceased by her husband Teofil (2004), grandson Jeff (2013), her parents, 3 brothers, 3 sisters and numerous relatives in Belarus and Russia.

We grieve her passing but are blessed and thankful to have had her in our lives and bringing us such joy, love and wonderful memories.

A private graveside service will be held at a later date at Mountain View Cemetery.
