It is with deep sadness we announce the passing of Anna Catherine Jucha in the early morning of July 2, 2023 in her residence at Pinewood Court after a lengthy battle with dementia just shy of her 91st birthday.

Anna was a kind, gentle, caring woman. Taking care of her family was most important to her & she started that at an early age after her mom took ill, she quit school & became the care-giver for her brothers & sisters especially the newborn twins Jacqueline & Geraldine.

Once her siblings had grown up & were able to care for themselves, Anna was able to start her own family after marrying the man she loved, Jan Jucha & having their two children Cindy & Ken, who she was very proud of and loved deeply.

She took great pride in her home & was often referred to as “Mrs Clean” as everything was in place & sparkling. She was also famous for her beautiful white neatly curled hair. Over the years she had taken jobs at Wenzell’s Clothing, Simpson Sears, Brock Variety & the Airlane Hotel but the job she loved best was home-maker & caring for her family.

A few years after the loss of her husband Jan, the cruel disease of dementia was showing signs in Anna. She moved out of her home into Chartwell Glacier Ridge for a few years. A bad fall took her to St. Joe’s & then the heart-breaking decision during covid, to move her into long term care had to be made which took her to Pinewood Court. While there she thrived & participated in the activities. At the music concerts Anna could be seen dancing in her wheelchair with the biggest smile. She loved her visits with her daughter and most enjoyed watching the Golden Girls while Cindy curled her hair.

She is survived & will be greatly missed by her daughter Cindy (Pat) Miller, son Ken (Susan) Jucha, Winnipeg MB, sisters Rita (Frank) Kushnier, Sheboygan WI, Jacqueline Tiboni, sister-in-laws Carole Tiboni, Lucia Kozial, Paw Paw MI, Marila Jucha, Gransville, NY, step-grandson Corey Sadler (Christine Hokkanen), great grandson Cash Sadler along with numerous nieces & nephews whom she all loved dearly.

She was predeceased by her husband of 55 years Jan Jucha, parents Amelia (Milani) & Henry Tiboni, brothers & sister-in-laws, Albert (Gloria), Bobby (Dorothy) & Ernie Tiboni, sisters & brother-in-laws Jeanette (Lance) Widnall, Geraldine (Gary) Lysak, brother-in-laws Frank Koziol & Ted Jucha, daughter-in-law Debbie Jucha.

We would like to give all the staff at Pinewood Court -- Kingfisher Ward & the Recreation Staff a huge & heartfelt “thank you” for caring for our beloved mom Anna.

Cremation has taken place. Funeral Mass will be held on Wednesday, July 19, 2023 at 11 am at St Dominic’s Church, 130 West Redwood Avenue with Father Mike Mahoney officiating.

A private interment will take place at Sunset Memorial Gardens.

As expressions of sympathy & in lieu of flowers, donations to the Alzheimer Society of Thunder Bay would very much be appreciated.
