WAWA — The Wawa Municipal Airport will remain closed until Wednesday to provide the Transportation Safety Board of Canada time to investigate a landing accident on the runway
On Monday morning, TSB informed Newswatch that a Mitsubishi MU-2 aircraft registered to Thunder Airlines was extensively damaged upon landing at the airport.
OPP spokesperson Ashley Nickle confirmed there were no injuries as a result of the crash; however, three occupants were taken to hospital as a precaution.
Wawa infrastructure service assistant director Rebecca Weatherall said that there was no damage to the runaway and that all flights would resume once the safety board concludes their investigation at the airport grounds.
All fights have been rerouted as a result of the closure.
