THUNDER BAY – Lise Vaugeois will seek a second term at Queen’s Park.

The Thunder Bay Superior-North MPP, first elected in 2022, on Saturday was officially nominated by the NDP to run in the next provincial election.

“I’m honoured to have the opportunity to continue advocating for Thunder Bay–Superior North,” Vaugeois said in a release, issued by the party.

“We have identified key issues regarding highway safety, affordable and safe housing for seniors, and access to fully resourced, public health care.  We cannot afford to slow down until the needed changes are made."

NDP Leader Marit Stiles said Vaugeois’ nomination was well deserved.

“Lise is a powerhouse of advocacy and action in Thunder Bay–Superior North. From standing up for highway safety to addressing senior care and intimate partner violence, she has made a real impact. We’re proud to have her on our team, and I know she’ll continue fighting for the North.”

The Ontario election is scheduled for 2026, but Premier Doug Ford, who ruled out a return to the polls this year, earlier this week left the door open for an early election in 2025.

None of the other major parties have yet to name nominees in Thunder Bay-Superior North.
