THUNDER BAY – February is coming in like lion.

Environment Canada says between 15 and 25 centimetres is expected to fall on the City of Thunder Bay on Saturday and into Sunday, and has issued a snowfall warning. Nipigon and Marathon are also under snowfall warnings. Atikokan is under a weather advisory, with 10 to 15 centimetres of snow expected.

The snow is expected to last through Sunday evening.

The government weather service says heavy snow will develop across the region, starting on Saturday night and continue throughout the night.

The highest accumulations will be in communities adjacent to Lake Superior and along the northern shore of the lake.

Environment Canada warns highway, roads and walkways could become difficult to navigate due to accumulating snow.

Consult Ontario 511 for highway statuses.
