Two new wildfires confirmed in Wawa region

Two new forest fires are being confirmed in northeastern Ontario Friday.

Wawa 12 is about 7 kilometres west of White Lake and is 0.1 hectares in size, and Wawa 13 is about 2 kilometres south east of Snowball Lake on the west side of Highway 614 and is 1 hectare in size.

Neither is under control.

Aviation, Forest Fire and Emergency Services for the Northeast Fire Region said overall there are 34 active wildland fires in the Northeast Region. Of those, two are not under control, five are under control and 27 fires are being observed.
