Traffic stop near Gull Bay leads to drug-related charges

Three people were arrested for trafficking, and the driver faces multiple other charges

GULL BAY FIRST NATION — Police have laid multiple charges after a weekend traffic stop on Highway 527.

According to a message posted Sunday by OPP, the arrests were made by police from Gull Bay First Nation/Kiaske Zaagiing Anishinaabek.

Three individuals were charged with possession of controlled drugs for the purpose of trafficking.

In addition the driver of the vehicle was charged for driving with cannabis readily available, driving under suspension, driving a vehicle with an unauthorized licence plate, driving a vehicle without a permit, and operating a vehicle without insurance.

In a social media message, the Armstrong detachment of the OPP urged members of the public to report people who traffic harmful drugs in their communities.
