NIPIGON – A traffic stop in Nipigon led police to discover a stash of drugs.

OPP, in a release issued on Thursday, said police stopped a vehicle on Dec. 10 on Highway 11/17 inside town limits, and during a search of the vehicle, discovered suspected cocaine and crack cocaine.

The discovery led to a warrant being issued for a Nipigon residence, which led to the seizure of suspected crystal methamphetamine and other drug paraphernalia.

A 49-year-old women from Nipigon was charged with possession of cocaine and methamphetamine for the purpose of trafficking, and two counts of failing to comply with a release order. The accused has been remanded into custody facing a future court date.

It is Newswatch policy not to name people accused of a crime if we're unlikely to follow the matter through to its conclusion in court.
