TERRACE BAY — A Terrace Bay man has been charged after Ontario Provincial Police were called to a home in the community over the weekend involving a man who reportedly barricaded himself in his home while armed.
The OPP said they received a report of an individual who was believed to be armed in their home at about 1:20 a.m. on Sunday. The incident was “safely resolved,” according to a press release issued late Monday afternoon.
In the release, police also announced they had charged a 38 year-old man with numerous offences, including possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose, unauthorized possession of a firearm, pointing a firearm, and uttering threats of death or bodily harm. He also faces a pair of charges related to failing to comply with court orders.
The OPP said on Sunday that the incident caused an increased police presence in the north shore community, but that there was no threat to public safety.
The accused, who police did not name, was placed in custody and was scheduled to appear in court Monday.
