Cold weather ahead

MARATHON – Enjoy the warm weather while you can. Jack Frost is set to plunge temperatures in Northwestern Ontario in a hurry.

Temperatures are expected to climb above the freezing point in Marathon on Monday, but by Friday there’s a daytime high prediction of -13 C and on Saturday overnight, the mercury could drop as low as -24 C.

Things could get even chillier in Beardmore, where Saturday’s daytime low is -18 C and the overnight low falls to -27 C. Similar weather is called for in Longlac.

In Beardmore, residents can expect periods of snow on Monday, with a chance of flurries every day through Friday, when temperatures are expected to drop to as low as -18 C during the day and -23 C overnight.

In Thunder Bay, things will be slightly warmer, but not by much, with daytime highs of -13 C on Friday and Sunday and overnight lows of -23 C on Saturday into Sunday.
