Speedster caught after nearly doubling posted speed limit

Over the weekend, OPP caught an individual from North York travelling 82 kilometres over the speed limit.

NIPIGON — A 32-year-old from North York has been charged with stunt driving after Nipigon OPP observed the driver travelling 172 kilometres in a posted 90-kilometre-per-hour zone.

On the evening of Sept. 1, officers using a radar device spotted the individual travelling on Highway 11/17 at excessive speeds and immediately pulled the vehicle over.

After charging the driver with stunt driving, the accused also received a 30-day licence suspension and a 14-day vehicle impoundment.

The driver is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Nipigon at a later date.
