Residents are asked to be vigilant and continue limiting their water usage - particularly for large volume activities like lawn-watering.

SCHREIBER — It might be a good time to consider the beach.

The township of Schreiber has announced that its splash pad will be temporarily shut down starting Monday until essential repairs are completed at Schreiber’s water treatment plant.

A notice on the township’s Facebook page provided residents with a brief update, thanking them for their understanding and patience.

“Your safety and well-being remain our top priority, and we sincerely appreciate your ongoing patience and understanding during this time.

“Rest assured, we are working diligently to resolve these issues swiftly so we can reopen the splash pad as soon as possible,” the township wrote.

The news comes over a month after the township issued a boil water advisory at the beginning of June and a little over a week since a water restriction was put in-place on July 12 due to a volume of usage which put a strain on the water supply.

At the time, the township said “excessive lawn watering” was primarily the cause and asked residents to alternate their watering schedules.

The splash pad was then initially shut off to conserve water and allow for necessary repairs to be made at the water treatment plant.

However, the splash pad reopened just in time for Schreiber’s Heritage Days Festival that ran from July 18 to July 21.

Now, the splash pad will remain closed until further notice.

The township is expected to provide updates soon.
