Power outage in Greenstone after motor vehicle collision

Greenstone residents without power after vehicle struck hydro pole early Friday morning.

GREENSTONE — Nearly 2,800 customers are without power after a motor vehicle accident on Highway 11 near Nipigon.

According to a Hydro One spokesperson, the driver slid into a 70-foot pole early Friday morning, causing the power line to break.

Hydro One crew are working on restoring power to the area; however, they are predicting that restoration should be complete by 7 p.m.

Affording to OPP, Greenstone officers attended the accident just after 6:30 a.m. just west of Magnet Creek.

The driver and passenger sustained minor injuries and were transported to a local hospital to be treated.
