NIPIGON -- Ontario 511 is reporting Highway 11 was closed in both directions for several hours after a plane made an emergency landing early Friday evening.

The highway has since reopened.

A post on Skilled Truckers Canada's Facebook page shows a small, single-engine propeller plane parked on the highway. It does not appear to be damaged. A line of vehicles can be seen behind the plane.

The Transportation Safety Board, through a spokesperson via email, said they are aware of the incident, but information is still being gathered at this time.

The closure was instituted just before 5:30 p.m. on Friday.

There is no indication of how long the highway will be closed.

Story has been updated to include the fact the highway has since reopened and the TSB is investigating.
