OPP put Canada-wide warrant out for missing offender

SAULT STE. MARIE — Ontario Provincial Police have issued a Canada-wide warrant for a federal offender wanted for a breach on their statutory release.

Nicholas Pears, 57, was serving a six-year, five months sentence for possession of a controlled substance for the purpose of trafficking, possession of a prohibited firearm with ammunition, possession of a weapon contrary to a prohibition order and failing to comply with conditions of an undertaking.

Pears is known to frequent the Sault Ste. Marie area, but could be anywhere in the country.

He’s described as standing 5-foot-9 and weighing about 180 pounds, with brown hair and brown eyes. He’s got several tattoos, including a skull and dragon on his right upper arm, a reaper and a clown face on his left arm, a devil on his shoulder and barbed wire on his right wrist.
