NIPIGON – According to the Nipigon OPP, on Feb. 3 at 5:40 p.m. officers conducted a roadside screening test on a 17-year-old from Pays Plat First Nation.
The OPP said after failing the test with a blood alcohol concentration of 80 plus, the youth was charged with impaired driving and was taken back to the detachment.
On Feb. 4 at around 2:30 a.m., Nipigon OPP conducted a RIDE program in Red Rock.
OPP pointed out that the first two vehicles that entered the RIDE program each received a roadside screening test and failed with a blood alcohol concentration of 80 plus.
Both drivers, a 27-year-old and a 28-year-old from Red Rock, were placed under arrest for impaired driving.
Each driver is now facing a 90-day administrative drivers licence suspension and a seven-day vehicle impoundment.
They were released from custody and will appear before the court at a later date.
