OPP make impaired driving arrest at RIDE checkpoint

GREENSTONE — A 31-year-old was nabbed for impaired driving after being stopped at a Festive RIDE checkpoint.

Provincial police said the stop was set up on Monday evening on Michael Power Boulevard when the vehicle approached.

Officers suspected the driver was impaired by alcohol. The driver was arrested and taken to the detachment for further testing.

The driver, from Strickland, Ont., was charged with two counts related to impaired driving and one count of failure to comply with a probation order.

The accused has been released from custody and is due to appear in court in January.
