THUNDER BAY — The provincial police caution the public about a crypto-scam making the rounds.

The OPP Cyber-Enabled Fraud Team is part of an investigation where victims have lost hundreds of thousands of dollars from fake cryptocurrency investments, the police said in a release on Wednesday.

Investigators are warning the public not to engage with two specific websites: www[.]How2Crypto[.]com and www[.]How2Crypto[.]net.

Anyone with information or who has had previous dealings with the above-mentioned websites is asked to contact police or the Canadian Anti-Fraud Centre at 1-888-495-8501.

They also remind the public that once crypto is sent, it's gone. As well, government agencies do not accept cryptocurrencies.
