OPP deal with a standoff in the Pass Lake area

PASS LAKE, Ont. — Ontario Provincial Police are working to peacefully resolve a standoff at a residence in the Pass Lake area, east of Thunder Bay.

Police were first notified of an incident on Portage Drive at about 3 a.m. Tuesday.

Sgt. Mike Golding said a male with a gun was barricaded inside a residence.

The person is by himself.

In an interview at 10:30 a.m., Golding said the scene is contained, but police are asking the public to avoid the area as they continue to deal with the situation.

He said the OPP Emergency Response Team and Tactical Response Team are both on the scene.
