OPP caught two individuals taking more than their fillet

Two individuals are in hot water after police find they are carrying too many fish, a firearm, and cannabis.

LONGLAC – OPP Northwest Region is reporting on the evening of July 12, officers with the Greenstone Detachment were conducting general patrol along Highway 11 in Longlac when a vehicle was observed travelling at a high rate of speed.

During the investigation, officers found several packed fish that were skinned beyond identification.

Police also seized more than $5,000 in Canadian currency and cannabis.

According to the OPP, police arrested the driver and passenger and transported them back to the detachment.

As a result, a 27-year-old from Sioux Lookout and a 31-year-old from Copper Cliff have been charged with possession of unidentifiable skinned fish, possession of fish beyond the allotted amount, and possession of currency obtained by crime.

In addition to the charges, the 27-year-old was also charged with driving with cannabis readily available and speeding, while the 31-year-old was charged with possession of a firearm or ammunition contrary to a prohibition order.

Both accused were held for bail until July 13 and have since been released from custody.

They are scheduled to appear before the court in August.
