Established non-profit organizations and sports groups in Manitouwadge may be eligible for discounted or waived user fees, rental agreements and other supports and services from the township in 2023.

The deadline for groups to apply for the program is Nov. 14.

The Non-profit/Sports Group Information Collection process, which was implemented by town council in 2013, puts out applications each fall for the following year. The information collected during the process allows the township to see what groups have planned for the following year and provide assistance where needed.

The community services department also uses applications to establish viable rental agreements and user fees for groups that lease township space.

The threshold on the request amount is a maximum of $750. The director of community and economic development can approve requests up to that amount. An annual report is then presented to council outlining the requests and approvals.

To be deemed eligible, the non-profit organization must be already up and running, provide recreational, leisure, cultural, educational or volunteer services, adhere to the Ontario Human Rights Code, and must be based in Manitouwadge, with at least 75% of members residing here.

Organizations do not need to be a registered non-profit to qualify.

Application forms are available at the town's website.

Information about the town’s regular rental and service fees is also available online.

For further information, contact Katie Law, director of community and economic development at 807-826-3227 x. 226 or via email at development@manitouwadge.ca.
