SUPERIOR NORTH — Provincial police saw a slight uptick in calls during last week's reporting period.

OPP responded to 438 calls for service in the areas overseen by detachments in Nipigon, Marathon and Greenstone, compared to 414 last week.

Police were busiest with eTickets, conducting R.I.D.E. programs, property checks and providing community services.

Almost half of the calls police attended to ended with charges being laid.

OPP officers laid 215 criminal code and Highway Traffic Act charges; 56 in Greenstone, 51 in Nipigon and 48 in Marathon.

The OPP is reminding the public about its online reporting system, which can be used as an alternative to having an officer attend a scene for a minor incident.

Citizen Self Reporting (CSR) was rolled out across the province in 2014, and it is an efficient system for reporting certain minor incidents and crimes.
