HORNEPAYNE – The township is seeking applications from four residents who would be interested in sitting on their operations advisory committee.
As members of the operational advisory committee, residents would foster a platform for other residents and stakeholders to “liase” with the township and council. Sitting on the committee also affords residents the opportunity to provide input and perspective on “operational matters” pertaining to public works, infrastructure, fundraising activities, and environmental concerns.
“Having community involvement is paramount for small municipalities’ success,” said Mayor Cheryl Fort in a statement provided to Dougall Media. “In Hornepayne, we have updated our committee structure to allow for flexible and agile committees that enable active community participation and further enhances our processes as being accountable and transparent. […] Being a part of the OAC is a perfect opportunity for a resident to become involved and a stepping-stone to one day run for Council.”
Two members of municipal council and one public works staff member sit on the committee in addition to four community members.
The terms of reference also state that the council “may appoint alternates for Community Member positions.”
Residents who are interested in applying are encouraged to fill out an application on Hornepayne’s website and submit it to [email protected] or in-person at the Town Hall (located at 68 Front Street).
Applications are open until Oct. 20 at 2pm.
