HORNPAYNE – Mayor Cheryl Fort has confirmed that contractors are on the way to breaking ground on the much-anticipated nearly $8 million Studio 6 motel.
“We have the contractors and building builders arriving on Wednesday morning. They're actually en-route now and we've started seeing some delivery," said Fort.
Earlier this year, construction was expected to begin in the spring; however, supply shortages delayed the project until now.
Winnipeg-based company Rideout Bay Developments will be building a 46-unit motel in the place where the Hallmark Centre closed in 2010.
“We need a hotel. It's one of those core investments into the community that allows for people to visit, workers to stay, and those who are looking to invest or move to our community, the opportunity to come, said Fort.
